Squat – box assisted
Squat – box assisted uses a box as a depth guide to keep reps consistent and technical. Lightly touch the box rather than collapsing onto it to keep tension and control.
Instructions
Stand in front of a box or bench with feet about shoulder-width apart. Brace the core and initiate the movement by pushing the hips back and bending the knees. Lower under control until sitting lightly on the box without fully relaxing. Push through the feet to stand back up, keeping the chest upright.
Avoid Common Mistakes
• dropping quickly onto the box
• fully relaxing at the bottom
• collapsing the knees inward
• shifting weight excessively to the toes
Variations
• with higher or lower box
• with pause on the box
• slow controlled lowering
• adding external load
• alternating tempo
