Side Plank Leg Raise
Side Plank Leg Raise combines lateral core work with hip abductor strength in one exercise. The leg lift should be controlled—think "slow up, slow down" rather than swinging.
Instructions
Start in a side plank position with the elbow under the shoulder and body in a straight line. Stack the feet or place the bottom knee on the ground if needed. Lift the top leg upward while keeping the hips stacked and stable. Lower the leg slowly and under control while maintaining the side plank position.
Avoid Common Mistakes
• letting the hips rotate or drop
• lifting the leg too high and losing control
• shrugging the supporting shoulder
• holding the breath
Variations
• with knees bent
• with pause at the top of the leg lift
• slower controlled tempo
• smaller range of motion
• alternating sides
