Running – uphill, treadmill

Running – uphill, treadmill increases load on the hips and calves while naturally shortening stride length. It's a clean way to practice strong mechanics when you want a hard stimulus without speeding the belt too much.

Instructions

Step onto the treadmill and set the desired incline. Start at an easy pace to adapt to the slope. Maintain an upright posture with a slight forward lean from the ankles, not the hips. Keep steps short and quick, driving the arms naturally. Adjust speed and incline based on training goals.

Avoid Common Mistakes

• overstriding or landing too far in front

• excessive forward bending at the waist

• holding onto the handrails

• setting incline or speed too high too soon

Variations

• steady uphill running

• short hill intervals

• long strength-endurance climbs

• cadence-focused uphill work

• alternating incline levels
