Calf Raise - elevated
Calf Raise - elevated uses a deeper range of motion to strengthen the ankle and support a snappy push-off. Pausing at the bottom (briefly) can improve tendon tolerance and make the movement more honest.
Instructions
Stand on an elevated surface such as a step with the forefoot on the edge and heels hanging free. Keep the body upright and core engaged. Rise onto the balls of the feet by pushing through the toes. Pause briefly at the top, then lower the heels slowly below the level of the step.
Avoid Common Mistakes
• bouncing at the bottom of the movement
• not using full range of motion
• shifting weight unevenly across the foot
• bending the knees excessively
Variations
• with bodyweight or added load
• with pause at the top
• single-leg
• slow controlled lowering
• alternating legs
