Calf Raise – Smith machine
Calf Raise – Smith machine allows heavy, steady loading with minimal wobble and consistent range. It's ideal for progressive overload when you want the ankles to get stronger without balance limiting the set.
Instructions
Position the bar across the upper back and stand on a raised platform or step so the heels can move freely. Place the balls of the feet on the edge and keep the body upright. Unrack the bar and rise onto the toes by pushing through the forefoot. Pause briefly at the top, then lower the heels slowly and under control below the platform level.
Avoid Common Mistakes
• bouncing at the bottom of the movement
• limited range of motion
• shifting weight unevenly between feet
• using excessive load and losing control
Variations
• with narrower or wider foot stance
• with pause at the top
• slow controlled lowering
• single-leg emphasis
• higher repetitions at lower load
