Box Side Jump
Box Side Jump trains lateral power and quick foot switching while demanding stable ankles and knees. Side-to-side work is often neglected, so this drill can be a valuable balance to straight-line training.
Instructions
Stand sideways next to a box with one foot on the box and the other on the ground. Lower slightly to prepare, then jump explosively upward and sideways to switch legs, landing with the opposite foot on the box and the other on the ground on the other side. Absorb the landing softly and immediately prepare for the next repetition.
Avoid Common Mistakes
• landing stiff without absorbing impact
• collapsing the knee inward on landing
• losing balance due to excessive speed
• using a box height that is too high
Variations
• with lower or higher box
• with pause after landing
• slower controlled jumps
• alternating jump rhythm
• reduced range of motion
